About Us  . . . the story so far

The company was born in 1997 initially as a specialist intercom installation and repair company, as our knowledge of the products grew, we began to innovate, we quickly saw that the internet was a huge opportunity to trade to a wider audience. With this in mind we designed our own web site, then later on added our unique 'Intercom Handset Finder Tool'  (which started life as an in-house tool for use by our own engineers) where users can easily identify their damaged or smashed door entry intercom handset, view and zoom in on high resolution pictures within our PDF files (most with one and two way wiring diagrams) to enable engineers and customers to wire up products sold by the company and as technology came on stream we added an on-line shop facility. 


So what sets us apart from the competition ? 
(1)  We have direct trade relationships with most major suppliers of quality door entry and access control products in the UK.
(2)  We hold large stock of most commonly used handsets fitted in the UK.
(3)  We check all handsets (apart from factory sealed units) for defects prior to dispatch and mark it with the inspectors initial internally, as there is nothing worse than receiving broken or damaged goods which costs you money and holds up the job.
(4)  The intercom handset finder tool, makes your life easier to search for the correct or compatible handset for your application and gives access to the wiring diagram, so you can fit it correctly.
(5) We always specify OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers products) and do not trade in fakes or copies, your system will always work best with the manufacturers direct replacement parts.
(6) We are based in the UK and have phone support if you run into trouble fitting your new handset or intercom system.  
(7)  We provide an installation service for flats, houses and businesses in Outer London, Surrey and Kent.

WHO ARE YOU ?    Intercoms R Us Limited is a specialist door entry and access control supply, installation and repair company, we are the home and creators of the "Intercom Handset Finder Tool" which is fast becoming the Industry Standard method for sourcing parts and is used around the world by installers and suppliers to identify OEM door entry handsets. We also supply replacement audio door entry system speech amplifiers, handsets and access control products to Wholesalers, Installers, Government Institutions, MOD, Hospitals, Schools, Trade and the Public. All goods are delivered by the Royal Mail Signed For service.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED ?   We are based in Kent and serve Outer London, Surrey and Kent for repairs and installations. For shop orders we supply to all  UK Mainland areas.
HOW DO I ORDER ?    Simply browse the shop site, select the item  you wish to buy, select the quantity if you would like more than 1, and click "add to basket". You can then review your order and proceed to the checkout,  you will then be asked to enter delivery address details and on submitting those details will be transferred to our credit card processing company NOCHEX  for payment, this is a secure site with 128bit encryption to ensure your details are safe,  get your payment confirmation e-mail and your done ! We will ship it out to you ASAP . . . Simple.
DO YOU HAVE A HIGH STREET SHOP ?    Who needs a shop . . . . . with  hassle getting there, finding a parking space, dodgy weather (most of the time), heavy bags and crowds (do we need to go on ?) 
DO YOU HAVE A CATALOGUE ?    We like to save the planet dude ! (and babe's) so paper usage is kept to a minimum. All our products are shown on-line and are split into sections to make browsing easier, so we don't really need a catalogue.
CAN I GET YOU ON THE PHONE ?      Contact with the company is easier through e-mail , but you can call our sales manager on 0780 388 2407 from 8.30am -5pm Mon-Fri.
CAN I COLLECT MY ORDER FROM YOUR WAREHOUSE ?  Sorry it is not possible to collect orders from the warehouse, for health and safety reasons public access is not permitted.
WHICH CREDIT CARDS DO YOU ACCEPT ?   Our credit card clearing provider NOCHEX accepts all major credit cards.
WHICH CURRENCY DO YOU USE ?  We charge in UK Pound Sterling (GBP)
IS ORDERING ON-LINE SAFE ?      Once you have typed in your delivery address, you are transferred to the NOCHEX web site for payment. This site uses 128bit Encryption to keep your card details secure. We never see your card details at this end.
CAN I PAY USING PAY-PAL ?       Sorry we currently use NOCHEX to process all our credit card transactions. NOCHEX are a British based firm (regulated by the British Financial Services Authority) we feel that offers you (the customer) and us (the retailer) better protection as they are actually based in our own country, plus we like to support our home grown companies as much as we can . . . .we need jobs here !
WHO IS NOCHEX ?       We have used NOCHEX for many years, they process all our credit card transactions. Nochex Ltd (and its trading name Nochex) is a Registered Electronic Money Issuer with the Financial Services Authority (Registered Number 900045). Nochex Ltd is a registered company in England and Wales (Company Number 3940921). Registered Office 103 Clarendon Road, Leeds, LS2 9DF.
WHY DOES MY CREDIT CARD BILL SHOW A PAYMENT TO NOCHEX AND NOT INTERCOMS R US LTD ?      Nochex process your card payment for us, we do not see any of your card details here, this ensures your security.
WHEN WILL I BE CHARGED ?      When you have filled out your details on the NOCHEX site, if payment is authorised the money will be debited to your credit card account. You will receive a confirmation e-mail from NOCHEX to show payment has been made.

WHAT ARE COOKIES ?    Apart from the yummy chocolate chip type . . . . 

  • We may use "cookies" to make the ordering process more user intuitive. Cookies are small amounts of data that are stored on the hard drive of your computer.
  • "Cookies" make it faster and easier for you to log into our site, if you choose via the settings on your computer not to receive cookies, certain aspects of the site may not function, including the shopping cart.
  • We would love to suggest that we have a whole team of 200 people working 24/7analyzing all the data from your clicks and preferences on our site, however the truth is . . . we don't have time for all that rubbish, cookies just remember the items you click on and we send them.

  • Intercoms R Us Ltd does not distribute, sell or rent your name or personal details ie (credit or debit card numbers) of your transactions. NOCHEX is solely responsible for the security of your information through their credit card clearing system. Please contact them directly through their web site about their services, security, privacy and other policies.
  • By registering via our log in process or ordering products from the on-line shop, you consent to the collection, use and transfer of your information.
  • When you register for an account you will be asked for information about yourself including your name, address and password.
  • All credit card clearing is provided by NOCHEX over their secure servers and is fully encrypted to prevent fraud.
  • We will not contact you with any spam / junk mail, adverts or anything else like that, as we really hate it too.
  • Any personal account/log in information retained will be stored on our secure server.
  • Intercoms R Us Ltd will own the rights to, and reserves the right to use, all suggestions, ideas, reviews, ratings and other content submitted to our site, through e-mail, post or any other method.
WILL YOU DELIVER TO ANOTHER ADDRESS ?  We ship orders to the card holders address ONLY. This is to prevent fraud (ie use of stolen cards etc)
HOW MUCH IS POSTAGE AND PACKING ?  Postage and packing is worked out in the final stages of the checkout procedure and is based on the size/weight of the product.
DO YOU EXPORT ?  Sorry we only currently ship products in the UK MAINLAND, but are looking to expand into Europe in the future.
WHEN WILL MY ORDER ARRIVE ?  We aim to get orders out in 1-3 Days (Most within 24hrs) Unless stated on the web site (service messages on the home page), orders may take a little longer over bank holidays etc as the post office is shut.
CAN YOU LEAVE DELIVERY IN A HIDING PLACE AT MY HOME ADDRESS ?   Sorry, all orders have to be signed for.
CAN SOMEONE ELSE SIGN FOR MY PARCEL ?   Yes, anyone at the specified delivery address can sign for the order.
DO I PAY IMPORT CHARGES ?    We do not currently export goods, but when we do the recipient would have to pay any customs and importation charges as the charges are levied once the package reaches its destination country. We have no control over the pricing of those charges and cannot predict what they might be. As policies vary from country to country, you may wish to seek advice from your local customs office or web site.
DO YOU DELIVER TO BFPO (British Forces Post Office) ?   Sorry we do not currently support that option.
CAN I CHANGE MY ORDER ?   When you purchase a product you are given an order number, if you go to the shop area click on "Order Status" and type your order number into the "Order ID" box then enter your e-mail address (ie the one used when you purchased the item) then click "View Order Status" You will see which stage your order is at. If it shows packing or shipped it will be too late to change things, however if it still says New Order . . . . . there is a chance we can put the order on hold.
HOW DO I TRACK MY PARCEL ?       We use ROYAL MAIL 1st Class signed for service, when your order is sent we issue a tracking number, you can use this on the ROYAL MAIL web site to find out where your parcel is, we have links on our web pages to access this service or just click here TRACKING and type in your tracking number in the box (It looks something like this AU123456789GB)
WHERE IS MY ORDER ?    If you are not at home when the postie tries to deliver, they will leave a note with instructions on where the parcel is, generally the item will be returned to the local sorting office where it is held for 18 days before being returned to sender.
CAN I ARRANGE FOR REDELIVERY ?      Yes, if you were not in when the Post Office attempted to deliver your parcel you can arrange for it to be re-delivered on the post office web site or just click here RE-DELIVERY 
IS IT IN STOCK ?   Our online shop uses a live stock system, this means that you cannot order an item if it is not in stock at our warehouse, apart from special order items and some kits (these may take 4 - 5 days delivery)

I NEED TO RETURN AN ITEM(S)  At Intercoms R Us Ltd  we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase, however if there is a problem you can return item(s) to us in their original condition within 14 days of receipt for a refund or exchange.  Please initially contact our customer care department at  and provide the following information :

  • Your Name
  • Your address
  • Your Order Number
  • Reason for return or complaint
  • Exchange or Refund required ?

Items should be returned in an as sold condition with all labels / packaging intact and any documentation (ie delivery note) , returned goods will not be liable for a refund if soiled, torn or damaged.  If you are returning a non-faulty item outside the distance selling regulations then the cost of returning the item to us, is your responsibility and we may deduct any non-recoverable charges that we have incurred, ie postage and packing and credit card transaction fee. Items returned using standard Royal Mail or any other provider is at your own risk, Intercoms R Us Ltd hold no responsibility of liability for loss or damage to returned items in transit. Once we are in receipt of your returned goods, they will be inspected and a refund will be issued to the card that was used to make the initial purchase minus postage costs, unless you received and incorrect or faulty item from us.


The Distance Selling Regulations 2000 are designed to protect customers who are not physically present with the seller at the time of purchase. They cover purchases made via email and the internet, together with telephone and mail order. They only apply to transactions between businesses and consumers (individuals acting outside the course of their business) and do not include business-to-business contracts and auctions. Under the regulations, consumers have the right to:

  • details in writing about the supplier and the terms of the transaction
  • written confirmation of their orders
  • further information, including a notice of cancellation rights, the complaints procedure, after-sales services and guarantees
  • delivery within 30 days unless otherwise agreed

Consumers have a cooling-off period of seven working days in which to cancel the contract, starting from when the goods are received, without having to give a reason. If no details of the cooling-off period have been given by the supplier to the consumer, it is extended to three months. The right to withdraw can be exercised by the consumer even after the goods have been delivered, or the services have been provided. The consumer is entitled to receive a full refund for a cancelled contract within 30 days. There are some exceptions to these rights of cancellation, including:

  • contracts for the provision of accommodation, transport, catering or leisure services, where these services are supplied on a specific date or for a specific period
  • the sale of customised goods or perishable goods
  • sealed audio or video recordings, or software, which have been opened
  • sales by auction
